Closest thing to the Mexican food I grew up with. Reminds me of my families food. However I think the horchata needs a new recipe... that's the only reason it's a 4/5 stars.

Coming from a place where there are never ending restaurants for fresh fast AUTHENTIC burritos, I NEED to get a good burrito from time to time. Sadly, I have been let down.
I will start by saying that the service is quick and they were all really nice there. It was a pretty straight to the point. We got the bacon breakfast burrito, the chorizo breakfast burrito, bean n cheese burrito, and a bowl. Be warned that they LOAD the breakfast burrito up with beans so instead of there being a good mix with beans it ends up serving as a filler for the lack of meat and eggs that actually showed up in the food.
If you've ever gone to an authentic place then you've had the delicious fresh tortilla, that gets a little crisp at the closings. Here NO, the tortilla is like a store bought mission one so it just ends up tasting processed and floury. After seeing people rave about being authentic, I was ready. This is probably a good choice if you've had a couple drinks and are left with no food options in Lawrence but even then meh. HIGHLIGHT WAS THE SALSA.... it was the best thing I ate.
All in all I was left upset, my stomach hurt from all of the dry-ish beans that were in my burrito, and I am still on the hunt for fresh authentic burritos in Lawrence. -

My boyfriend and I used to love this place; good food at a relatively cheap price. However, the last three-four times I've gone have been extremely underwhelming and disappointing. Each of those times they have forgotten items and messed up each item they included. When I went about a week ago, we ordered 4 mexican style tacos with steak, one soft taco with steak, and an order of bean dip with chips. When we got home, there were 3 mexican style steak tacos, 4 tacos (crunchy shell) and a side of beans. Tonight, we ordered deluxe nachos without sourcream, a pork tamale, and bean dip with chips. Arrived home with deluxe nachos WITH sour cream, bean dip but no chips, and a stone cold, uncooked pork tamale. When I pulled the tamale out of the bag, the foil was literally cold to the touch and the tamale itself was cold and extremely mushy (indicates it wasn't cooked properly).
In addition to this, about 50% of the time when I order bean dip and loudly specify DIP, I receive a side of beans instead. And a quarter of the time when I do get the dip, they forget the chips even though I was charged the extra ~$2.
I really hope they work things out because I miss the good food here but it had become extremely unreliable and I'm not sure when I'll be back. I used to go at least once a week. I hope you have a better experience than -

Good visit at Burrito King. Nachos were tasty & beautifully prepared. Wait time was LONG! Decent staff, but not very helpful. They don't seem to like be asked about the menu. I'll be back & hope service is better.
